70 Plymouth Superbird Matching Numbers

Beautiful 70 Plymouth Superbird with bright Tor-Red (that's Hemi Orange in Dodge parlance) paint covers the body. The body and paint are fresh and clean. The doors, hood and deck lid all close solidly with little effort. What little bright-work there is has been polished or re-plated: Shiny reveal moldings, Superbird-specific A pillar moldings and drip rail moldings are the only stainless trim on the exterior, while new door handles and the re-chromed vent window frames, rear bumper and rear callout letters are the only chrome parts. These cars were meant for NASCAR, not the Miracle Mile! The body is beautiful, straight and much better than new. New decals all around and a new vinyl top finish off the body while the very clean original 14” rallyes with reproduction F70x14 Polyglas tires set the corners. I took it for a one-mile test drive and got three thumbs up—how's that compare with what your neighbor has in his garage?

Under the hood of this 1970 Superbird you’ll find the highly detailed, ORIGINAL 440 Super Commando engine. We just put reproduction heater and radiator hoses, date coded spark plug wires, a reproduction ballast resistor and a new Antique Auto Battery red top group 27 unit under here to finish things off. The correct dual snorkel air cleaner is original, as are the exhaust manifolds, wiper motor, voltage regulator and the original fender tag. A new reproduction radiator cap topping the original 956 radiator keeps things cool while the correct Bendix dual diaphragm power brake booster and passenger side exit master cylinder brings the car to a confident stop. Swap ends and open the trunk: You’ll find a new trunk mat, a new spare Polyglas tire and BOTH jacks. This car was done correctly!

Sit inside and look around at the comfortable cockpit. You’re sitting on recovered seats with new foams, resting your arms on new pads with new chrome bases and putting your feet down on a fresh set of ACC mats sitting on new carpet. The clean original door panels, the original seat belts, visors and dash pad are worthy accomplices to the restored gauges, working AM/FM radio and new dash fascias. The original wood-grain handles on the original pistol grip shifter look right at home with the excellent original wood-grain steering wheel. New pedal pads complete the control set.
