1932 Ford Hi-Boy Roadster

Open the door and sit inside on the very comfortable leatherette and Mustang GT tweed cloth seat. The door panels and kick panels are also covered in the same while the dash is body color and the floors have very nice tan carpeting. Stewart Warner vintage gauges (not “vintage series”—real live vintage ones) rest in the dash and a Grant banjo steering wheel bolts to the GM tilt column. The headlight and ignition switches are where you’d expect them (none of that hidden stuff like the cars you see built now) and there’s a stereo in the dash for tunes. The seat adjusts fore and aft, too—this car can accommodate big guys, and that’s rare!

Lift either side of the hood and check out the rebuilt and balanced 327 inside. Pink rods, Venolia pistons, a Dana cam, Crane roller rockers, cc’d double hump heads and more are packed inside. The Offy intake with Holley trips is the big attraction here, though: You can’t help but notice it! A C2 Corvette dual point dizzy with tach drive works with a new MSD coil and wire-set to provide the spark. Painless wiring runs from the battery out. An aluminum water pump, chrome fuel pump and chrome alternator are standard fare. More Stroh’s red is on the block and finned aluminum valve covers, too. Did we mention the three carb setup?

The ladder bar setup out back is chromed while the Independent Chassis front suspension is polished aluminum, as are the Spax shocks at all four corners. GM disc brakes up front work with Porsche 911 calipers and Magoo rotors on the axle to stop the car efficiently. The side exit exhaust pipes feature updated Flowmaster mufflers, and the system sounds great. Both the 327 and the Turbo 400 sport body colored, finned aluminum pans flanked by the chromed Sanderson headers. Rack and pinion steering guides the front wheels while the rears are driven with either 3.70 or 4.38 gears in the quick change.
